Beware as Flu Season Approaches

BEWARE! Flu season approaches!

Can you feel the nip in the air at night and early morning? It is heralding the approaching winter season, with its coughs and colds, flu's and chest infections, and as we age, the increasing risk of pneumonia, etc, etc.

That's the bad news, but the good news is that you can act now to minimize the risk to your health and wellbeing.
Now is the time to visit your GP, and ask for your flu vaccination. If you are over 65 years, it is free. You may also benefit from a pneumococcal vaccination to lessen the risk of contacting pneumonia. The 2010 flu vaccine also vaccinates against swine flu, so even if you had a separate injection for swine flu, you may now have this vaccination at your earliest convenience.

Remember, the early bird catches the worm! Don't wait, until the vaccine is in short supply. Remember also that hand washing is the most important task you can do, to ensure you stay healthy and flu-free this winter season.
