Thomas Gaine - Perth

Fr Tom Gaine was born 23rd November 1929. He studied for the priesthood at St Keiran's College, Kilkenny, and was ordained on 2nd June 1957.

After serving in the Archdiocese of Perth he retired to Ireland to the family farm at Lissyclerig, Kenmare, Co Kerry, the city of his birth.

He served as curate at Northam, Kalgoorlie, and Clarement between 1957 and 1966. He was then appointed Administrator of Highgate; he later served at East Victoria Park; Priest-in-charge at Quairading; then locum tenens at Pinjarra from 1973. In 1979 he was appointed founding Parish Priest of Girrawheen. Between 1973 and 1979 he served as Port Chaplain and Director of the Stella Maris Seafarers Centre in Fremantle.

Fr Tom had a fall recently fracturing his femur and was hospitalised in Tralee Hospital. He was  transferred to the Coronary Care Unity where in died on October 4th.
