Con Keogh - Sydney

Fr Con Keogh, a founding member of the mental health movement GROW, died at the age of 90.

Fr Con entered the seminary in Springwood at 18, and was ordained in Rome, where he obtained degrees in philosophy and theology. He returned to Sydney in 1951 and became professor of philosophy at Springwood. He later taught at St Patrick’s College, Manly.

In 1954 Fr Con had a breakdown. Following his recovery, Fr Con worked in parishes around Sydney and in prison chaplaincy before devoting himself to Grow from 1968.  In 2004 he received the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community through Grow.
