Allan Crawford - Sydney

Fr Allan Crawford died on Friday, 26 February 2010 in Camden Hospital Palliative Care Unit. He was 88 years of age.
Allan was born in Penshurst, NSW and attended the Sisters of St Joseph Primary School at Penshurst and then Christian Brothers College, Lewisham. He later married his wife Dorothy in the Penshurst Parish Church. Allan attended Teacher’s College and the University of New England where he studied Humanities. He went on to serve as a school teacher and was Acting Principal at Narwee Public School. Allan was an acolyte in Riverwood Parish. He also ran a prayer meeting for many years.
Allan is survived by his five children and his many grandchildren. After Dorothy’s death in 1982, Allan commenced studies for the priesthood at St Paul’s National Seminary. He was ordained at St Declan’s Parish, Penshurst on 6 December 1986.
He worked as an Assistant Priest at Liverpool Parish where he was admired for his ministry at Liverpool Hospital. He retired in 1998 but continued to assist in many parishes in the Archdiocese of Sydney and the Diocese of Wollongong particularly Kiama and Ruse.
Allan’s funeral was held on Friday, 5 March 2010 at St Thomas More Parish, Ruse. Bishop Peter Ingham was the Principal Celebrant. Bishops Robinson, Cremin and Brady assisted along with many priests from Sydney and Wollongong dioceses.
